jury-trial-cancelled

The jury trial has been cancelled in the case of a Kansas City, Kansas man who is facing felony charges including murder and kidnapping.

On February 22, Sedalia Police officers responded to the 700 block of East 17th Street where they found Robert G. Fox lying in the street, dead from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest.

After an investigation, detectives were able to establish a motive and identify a suspect vehicle that later led authorities to a subject who lived in the Kansas City, Kansas, area. Authorities tracked the suspect vehicle to Sedalia prior to the homicide and back to the KCK area, and 27-year-old Daniel Fernandez was charged.

Fernandez is charged with a Class A Felony for Murder in the Second Degree; a Class D Felony for Kidnapping in the Second Degree; and Unclassified Felonies for Armed Criminal Action and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.

A motion for bond reduction was denied by the court on August 31, 2020. After hearing all arguments, the court denied the motion to dismiss and the motion for bill of particulars on January 6, 2021. Motion to compel is recessed at this time.

The three day jury trial that was scheduled to begin on Wednesday, January 13 has been cancelled. Fernandez’s next court appearance is pending at Pettis County Circuit Court.
