Marshall fire fighters were dispatched to put out a structure blaze in the 500 block of North Jefferson Avenue on Thursday, April 22.
According to a report from the fire department, firemen were dispatched at 12:03 p.m. and arrived on scene three minutes later.
Upon arrival, they noted light smoke coming from the attic. They found the hot spot in the dining room ceiling, cut a hole in the ceiling to access the blaze and extinguished the fire, which they had under control at 12:18 p.m.
An investigation revealed knob-and-tube wiring was faulty at the point of origin.
Fire fighters cleared the scene at 12:42 p.m.
Estimated damage to the structure was $2,500 and $100 to its contents.
There were no injuries reported from the scene.
