The City of Marshall is taking the necessary steps to apply for an emergency disaster declaration from state and federal agencies.
Mayor Julie Schwetz says residents, businesses and city properties saw much damage from last week’s rainstorm; and the dollar amount of the damages, less insurance coverage, can be used in the application.
Until a declaration is made, however, there is no immediate monetary reimbursement from government agencies.
Mayor Schwetz says, “We would like to thank the State Emergency Management Agency for working with us to assess damage and provide non-monetary resources. We would also like to thank the crews at Municipal Services and Municipal Utilities for the extra time and hard work they’ve been providing for cleanup and recovery of critical facilities.”
Mayor Schwetz adds, if you are in immediate need of assistance, call the Red Cross help line at (800) 733-2767.
