The editors of The Purple Patch, Missouri Valley College’s literary journal, are currently seeking submissions for volume xxi, forthcoming in Spring 2022.
A news release says editors-in-chief Lauryn Craine and Mariona Bolao Manen invite original literary and academic work and visual art. The fall 2021 submission period closes on Sunday, December 5, and acceptances will be sent shortly thereafter.
Debbie Olson, The Purple Patch sponsor from 2018-20, said, “The Purple Patch showcases Missouri Valley College’s creativity in the arts while also allowing students to get published.”
Submissions are reviewed by a nine-member editorial board of students, who are members of the English Honor Society Sigma Tau Delta.
Daniel Ripley, president of Sigma Tau Delta 2021-22, says “The Purple Patch serves as one of the most important ways for artistic voices to be heard. It creates a literary identity which strengthens the Missouri Valley Community.”
To submit work for publication send .doc .pdf. or .jpg files to purplepatch@moval.edu.
Questions can be directed to Craine at lc0153@moval.edu or Dr. Claire Schmidt at schmidtc@moval.edu.
