
Ray Douglas Cook, 81, of rural Blackburn, MO, died Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 17, 2022, at St. Paul United Church of Christ, with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Blackburn Cemetery. Born June 23, 1941, in Blackburn, he was the son of the late Charles William Henry Cook and Frances Hattie Anna Heins Cook. He attended school in Blackburn and joined the Missouri Army National Guard right out of high school. On October 1, 1965, he married Mona Joyce Spray who preceded him in death on February 11, 1996. He was a farmer, owned and operated Joyce’s Place and drove an over the road truck, both with his wife Joyce, and hauled grain for Bartlett Grain. He was a member of the Moose Lodge No. 272 in Sedalia. He recently enjoyed spending winters in Zapata, TX with family friend Tom Newman, always making sure to stop at Branson along the way. He and Joyce enjoyed dancing, fishing and card parties with their friends.
Survivors include three sons, Mike Cook (Linda) of Alma, Doug Cook (Ricci) of Sweet Springs and Steven Cook of Columbia; five grandchildren, Michelle, Jon, Chris, Tyler and Nicholas Cook; family friend, Tom Newman; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Ray was preceded in death by one brother, Stanley Cook.
