
The former I-70 Community Hospital in Sweet Springs will have new life this summer, as Sweet Springs Life Recovery is beginning the process of renovating the facility.
Mayor Rick Clemens says the group’s CEO provided an update at the Sweet Springs Board of Aldermen meeting Monday, Apr. 13.

The facility will provide in-patient care up to 30 days, as well as outpatient services. CEO Siara Croom told the board that the facility will not function as a crisis center. The group plans to host a job fair in the near future and hopes to reopen the medical clinic in the future.
Also Monday night, the board heard from Christopher Hess, executive director of the Pioneer Trails Regional Planning Commission. Clemens says he looks forward to more conversations with Hess and the commission.
Clemens along with aldermen John Clevenger and Trey Schleicher were sworn in at the beginning of Monday’s meeting. The board also approved a request for the Sweet Springs Athletic Booster Club to close S. Miller St. at Main St. on Oct. 3 for their annual Chicken Wing Contest.
