The Fayette Board of Aldermen voted to hire Howe Company to complete a bridge assessment study on a bridge that has been closed for almost three months.
City Administrator Deanna Cooper tells KMMO News that the Mulberry Street Birdge was closed down by the two-and-a-half months ago and now needs replacing. She explains that the board is hiring Howe Company to help determine what kind of bridge the city should install.
Cooper says the city is also planning to apply for a bridge grant to fund the replacement.
Aldermen also approved an engagement letter from KPM CPAs and Advisors for the audit of the city’s financial statements from 2023 to 2025. Cooper says one major benefit from the city catching up with its audits is that Fayette can now apply for CDBG funding.
The city also swore in its new elected officials from the April Municipal Election. Greg Stidham secured another term as Mayor, while Michelle Ishmael, Bradley Patty, and Austin Ivy were all elected to the Board of Aldermen. Timothy Wells beat out Brandon Abbott for the position of City Marshal. The board’s next meeting is Tuesday, April 28.
