
The National Weather Service has confirmed another two tornado touchdowns from the Monday, Apr. 27 storm system, both of them in southern Randolph County.
The first touched down around 7:11 a.m. south of Salisbury and proceeded on a path that went just north of Roanoke. The EF-1 twister turned southerly toward Yates before turning northeasterly, heading north of Renick before lifting just shy of the Monroe County line. This twister had estimated peak winds of 105 miles per hour and was 300 yards at its widest. The tornado damaged a number of tree tops and power poles and collapsing outbuildings, while straight line winds to the north and south of the path also caused significant damage to surrounding communities including Moberly and Middle Grove.
The second twister crossed through the Renick community around 7:30 a.m. The EF-0 tornado had maximum wind gusts of 80 miles per hour, bringing down trees that led to roof and building damage in the community.
No injuries or fatalities were reported from either tornado.
