Harold “Don” Heermann, 86, of Oak Grove, MO, formerly of Sweet Springs, passed away Thursday, May 14, 2026, at St. Luke’s East Hospital in Lee’s Summit.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Concordia, where funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Sweet Springs. Born January 14, 1940, in Sweet Springs, he was the son of the late Arthur Heermann and Edna Robker Heermann. Don was raised in the Emma area and was a graduate of Sweet Springs High School. On September 14, 1957, he married Martha “Marty” Sims who survives of the home. Don’s career was spent with Kansas City Power and Light, they moved to the Blue Springs area where they have lived for over 60 years. He worked in several capacities for Kansas City Power and Light for 37 years, retiring as a supervisor, and was a member of the I.B.E.W. Don was of the Christian faith.

In addition to his wife of nearly 69 years, Marty; he is survived by four children: Steve Heermann (Robin) of Cape Coral, FL, Kelly Zimmerschied (Larry) of rural Sweet Springs, Mark Heermann of Oak Grove, and Audrae Merry (Peter) of Lee’s Summit; seven grandchildren: Grant Bernard (Tracey), Jared Bernard (Lexi), Levi Bernard, Justin Darnel, Nicholas Darnel (Katerin), Ryan Heermann, and Samantha Hufford (Clayton); 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; as well as nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Edna; two grandchildren, Katrina Heermann and Seth Darnel; as well as his brother, Ralph Heermann, and sister, Loretta Bredehoeft.
