The Sweet Springs Board of Aldermen moved to establish the prices and hours of operation for the city pool prior to its planned opening on Memorial Day weekend.
Aldermen approved the recommendations from the city’s Pool Board during its board meeting on Monday, May 11. Summer hours for the pool will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 1 to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
Pool parties and admission prices will also remain the same as last year. Admission is free for children one and under, $2 for children age two, $3 for senior citizens age 55 or older, and $4 for anyone age three and older. For pool parties, a two-hour party with 50 guest or less is $125, while parties with over 50 guests will be $150. Pool passes also remain at the same price, costing $55 for individuals and $160 for a family of four.
The board also approved street closures for the Sweet Springs Festival in October. The city’s Fair Board requested permission to close Miller Street from the alley to Tuner Street on October 15 and 16, and from Marshall Street to Turner Street on October 17. Street closures were then approved for the fourth annual Farmers Market every Monday between June 29 and July 27. South Miller Street will be closed from Turner to Marshall from 5 to 7 p.m. on those Mondays for the market.
