A Warrensburg man is facing a second-degree murder charge for allegedly shooting a woman to death on July 1.
According to a probable-cause statement, after smoking marijuana and methamphetamine, Russell Scott Shuey told authorities he and Sabrina C. Shelton decided to have sex. During sexual intercourse, he said a 9mm handgun he was armed with fell out of its holster and landed on top of the woman. However, he could not explain how the woman got shot and told authorities the firearm just discharged and struck Shelton in the chest.
According to online court documents, a warrant has been issued and Shuey has been charged with a Class A Felony for Murder in the Second Degree; a Class C Felony for Involuntary Manslaughter; and three other felonies. Bond has been set at $100,000.
Shuey’s initial hearing at Johnson County Circuit Court is pending.
