A Kingsville man was killed in a two-vehicle head-on traffic crash in Johnson County on Friday.
According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred as a southbound 2002 Chevrolet S-10, driven by 20-year-old Damon Pemberton, of Holden, and a northbound 2002 Suzuki, driven by 24-year-old Jesse Murphy, reportedly struck head-on.
Murphy was pronounced deceased at the scene at 5:12 p.m. by Johnson County Coroner Clark Holdren. Pemberton and a passenger in his vehicle- 20-year-old Solomon Tevis, of Holden- reportedly were transported by Johnson County ambulance to Research Medical Center in Kansas City for treatment of moderate injuries. The report says nobody in either vehicle was wearing a safety device.
The crash happened at 3:45 p.m. on County Road Southwest 1821, south of County Road Southwest 275.
