A Wind Advisory has been issued for much of the KMMO listening area for a six-hour period on Saturday, October 17.

According to the National Weather Service, southwest winds from 20 to 30 mph- with gusts up to 45 mph- are expected.

Portions of central, north-central, northeast, northwest and west-central Missouri are included in the advisory area from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down, and power outages may result.

In addition, you are urged to use extra caution when driving, especially if you are operating a high-profile vehicle.

Also, strong winds, paired with low relative humidity and recent dry conditions, also will lead to an increase in fire danger. Outdoor burning of any kind is strongly discouraged.

Counties affected include Saline, Carroll, Chariton, Cooper, Howard, Lafayette and Pettis in the KMMO listening area.
