
Hospitalizations due to COVID-19 increased on Thursday, October 7, in Lafayette County.
According to the weekly report from the Lafayette County Health Department, there are five persons hospitalized due to the virus. That’s up from three the day before.
The number of COVID-19-related deaths remained at 71 since the beginning of the pandemic. In all, three more positive cases were confirmed, increasing the county’s total to 3,538.
There are 53 active cases in the county. That includes 12 persons in each the 20 to 39 and 40 to 49 age group; 11 in the zero to 11; 10 in 60 and over; and eight in the 12-19 age group.
As of the time of the report, Lafayette County’s positivity rate for testing was 5.99 percent, per the CDC COVID Data Tracker.
The county’s fully-vaccinated rate is 40.3 percent; and 45.1 percent of its residents have received at least one dose.
If you haven’t been vaccinated and would like to be, health department officials say you can visit their office on Mondays or Wednesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for walk-in vaccination services.
