During its meeting on Monday, July 18, the Marshall City Council was asked to approve the second reading of an ordinance to authorize the transfer of certain funds for economic development purposes between the city and Marshall Municipal Utilities’ Board of Public Works.

However, councilman Leon Thompson explained it would be best for the council to let this particular ordinance as it is written die on the floor.

Thompson explained more, including input from councilman Robert Ashford.

No motion was made, and the ordinance died on the floor.

In other news, the council approved the second reading of an ordinance to execute an agreement between the city and Cunningham, Vogel & Rost, P.C., for the provision of legal services.
