The Saline County Commission convened in regular session on February 14th, during which Presiding Commissioner Becky Plattner announced plans for the repair of the courthouse’s slate roof, necessitated by storm damages.

Renaissance Historic Exteriors submitted a bid of $263,980 for the restoration work. Insurance coverage will offset the majority of the costs, leaving a $5,000 deductible to be paid. The project is projected to span 54 days, with completion subject to weather conditions.

It will also include the replacement of lightning rods. While certain sections of the courthouse may be temporarily closed off, scheduled events will proceed unaffected, as alternative entrances with comparable accessibility remain available.
