The Carrollton Town Council considered an ordinance to enter into a lead service inventory contract during its meeting on Monday, August 5.

Municipal Utilities Director Clint Mathis gave a report to the council regarding the inspection work that would have to be done on the city’s service lines. Mayor Susan Bliss said the city will have to check more than 1,500 service lines for lead.

The council approved an ordinance to enter into the contract to complete the lead service line inventory. Bliss said that Mathis managed to secure a grant to help cover the cost of the contract.

In other news, Water Supervisor Tammy Hamblen reported that a sewer line will need to be replaced under 1st Street in Carrollton. Hamblen is currently taking bids for contractors.
