Steve Twiggs was appointed to the vacant seat in Ward 2 of the Higginsville Board of Aldermen on Monday, August 5.
Twiggs was appointed to fill the vacant seat of Doug Booker in Ward 2. Twiggs will fill the seat until next April, which is when the seat will be up for election for a two-year term. Twiggs is also filling Booker’s roles on the Emergency Services Committee and the Finance and Administration Committee.
In other news, the board approved a Memorandum of Understanding with the Lafayette County C-1 School District for a School Resource Officer. This is a renewal of the previous agreement, with the only change being a $5,000 increase on the maximum amount for the city to be reimbursed. The amount increased from $55,000 to $60,000 due to an increase in benefit costs.
