A person was arrested after a reported incident in Cooper County on Friday, January 8.

A release from the Boonville Police Department says at approximately 5:38 p.m., Boonville Police officers were dispatched to the 700 Block of Locust Street for a reported assault with a possible hostage.

Officers from the Boonville P.D., Cooper County Sheriff’s Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol went to the scene to investigate. A perimeter was set up while officers tried to contact anyone inside the residence. Officers were unable to make contact.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol S.W.A.T. Team was called to assist. Upon its arrival, the suspect surrendered and was taken into custody.

The investigation is ongoing.
