State Fair Community College hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony at on April 17 on the Sedalia campus for its newly remodeled Clinical Sciences Building, expanding space for its dental hygiene and occupational therapy assistant programs.

The project is part of the college’s strategic campus plan and includes expanded facilities for two programs. The occupational therapy assistant program lab is now located across the hall from the newly remodeled dental hygiene clinic. The expansion will allow more students to enroll in the programs, helping address current demand and waitlists, while also improving access to dental hygiene services for the community. The remodel was designed by Paragon Architecture of Springfield and constructed by Septagon Construction An open house and tours were offered following the ceremony. SFCC President Dr. Brent Bates spoke at the event. Members of the SFCC Board of Trustees in attendance included Jeff Page, Justin Hubbs, and Patty Woods. Representatives from the Sedalia Area Chamber of Commerce, including Executive Director Gabby White, as well as community members, also attended.

The SFCC Dental Hygiene Clinic, located in the Clinical Sciences Building west of the Olen Howard Workforce Innovation Center on the Sedalia campus, provides oral health care services to the public while educating future dental hygienists.

The Dental Hygiene Program prepares students to meet educational requirements for licensure as a registered dental hygienist in Missouri. The program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation. Graduates are eligible to take the National Dental Hygiene Board Examination, the Commission on Dental Competency Assessments exam and the Missouri jurisprudence exam required for licensure.
