The St. Louis Cardinals continued to stay hot offensively, scoring seven runs on 12 hits to defeat the Los Angeles Dodgers 7-2 Friday night at Busch Stadium.

The Cardinals grabbed an early lead when Ivan Herrera scored on a balk from Emmet Sheehan. Nolan Gorman would then crush a two-run homer to right to make it 3-0 in the first inning.

The Dodgers got a run back in the second, but Alec Burleson responded in the third with a solo homer. LA would cut the lead in half in the sixth, but the Cardinals rallied for three more in the seventh thanks to a two-run double from Jordan Walker and a fielder’s choice off the bat of Nathan Church.

Matthew Liberatore picked up his first win of the season, allowing two runs over 5.2 innings with four strikeouts. Walker had a perfect day at the plate, recording four hits, two RBIs, and two runs scored.

The Cardinals improve to 19-13 on the season, just a game back of the NL Central lead. The Redbirds will go for the series win over LA tonight, with Michael McGreevy starting against Roki Sasaki. First pitch is at 6:15 p.m.
