Kris Bubic limited the Seattle Mariners to four hits, and the Kansas City Royals took advantage by securing a series sweep with a 4-1 win Sunday, May 3 at T-Mobile Park.

Bubic went seven innings in the win, striking out seven while allowing the four hits and two walks. The lone run came in the third, when John Naylor sent a grounder to first base, resulting in a force out at second while Leo Rivas scored from third.

The Royals responded in the top of the fourth, loading the bases with two singles and a hit-by-pitch. Carter Jensen tied the game when he drew a bases-loaded walk from starter Luis Castillo. Jac Caglianone hit into a forceout, scoring the go-ahead run by Vinnie Pasquantino. Salvador Perez beat the throw home by the tips of his fingers when Isaac Collins sent a sacrifice fly to center; the Royals successfully overturned the initial out call at home to keep the inning going.  The Royals added another run in the sixth when Caglianone drew a two-out walk, then scored from first on a line-drive double by Collins.

Castillo was rung up for all four runs on eight hits, going six innings and striking out five but issuing a pair of walks in the loss. Daniel Lynch IV completed a four-out save appearance, striking out three.

The Royals return to Kauffman Stadium with a 15-19 record, 2.5 games behind the Cleveland Guardians for the AL Central lead. They will welcome the Guardians on Monday evening for the first of three series against division opponents, with Michael Wacha taking the bump while Cleveland will start Tanner Bibee.
