HUGHESVILLE WOMAN HURT IN PETTIS COUNTY TRAFFIC ACCIDENT

A Hughesville woman suffered minor injuries in a one-vehicle traffic accident in Pettis County on Thursday.

MSHP LOGOAccording to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred as a northbound vehicle, driven by 23-year-old Paris Hill, hit loose gravel, ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a ditch.

Hill reportedly was transported from the scene by a private vehicle to a hospital in Sedalia for treatment.

The accident happened just before 4 p.m. on Route EE, one mile south of Pinhook Road.

COLUMBIA WOMAN INJURED IN SALINE COUNTY TRAFFIC ACCIDENT

A Boone County resident was injured in a one-vehicle traffic accident in Saline County on Thursday.MSHP LOGO

A report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred as a westbound vehicle, driven by 47-year-old Christine Russell, of Columbia, traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck the median guardrail.

Russell reportedly refused treatment of minor injuries at the scene.

The accident happened at 9:15 a.m. at the 78.4 mile marker on I-70.

Graveside services will be held at noon on Saturday, October 29, at Locke Cemetery southeast of Marceline.

There will be no visitation.

Services are under the direction of Delaney Funeral Home in Marceline.

SENATOR PEARCE TO READ TO AREA SCHOOL KIDS–Click here

A state politician will take time out to read to area school kids during the last week of October.

According to the office of Senator David Pearce, of Warrensburg, on Thursday, October 27, the Senator will participate in Read for the Record, a national campaign hosted by Jumpstart to address the importance of reading and early childhood education.

Senator Pearce will read to preschool, kindergarten and first and second grade classes at both Glasgow Elementary in Howard County and Hardeman R-X Elementary in Saline County. Story time at Glasgow will begin at 8:30 a.m. while the Hardeman appearance will begin at 10 a.m.

This will be the senator's fourth consecutive year of participation. The featured book for 2016 is “The Bear Ate Your Sandwich,” written and illustrated by Julia Sarcone-Roach. After this year, Pearce will have read to schoolchildren in all eight counties of the 21st Senate District.
