KANDER DEBUTS NEW WEBSITE FOR VOTERS AHEAD OF ELECTION DAY

Missouri Secretary of State Jason Kander has unveiled a new website to help voters find their voting information.

According to Kander’s office, the Missouri Voter Outreach Center allows voters to view their candidates and measures that will appear on their ballot, find their districts and look up their polling place in one location. The new, fully accessible website can be found online at www.VoterOutreach.sos.mo.gov.

Missouri’s Voter Outreach Center gives Missourians a new tool to help make going to the polls easier. With this new site, voters enter their voter registration address and are taken to a page that lists voting information specific to their address. Voters can view candidates and measures that will appear on their ballot and see which legislative and congressional districts they live in. Through this site, Missourians are also able to view a list of upcoming elections and voting registration deadlines, the polling location for the address entered and contact information for their local election authority.

The tool was developed to meet W3C accessibility guidelines, which allows users with a diverse range of hearing, movement, sight and cognitive ability to easily find the information they need to be Election Day-ready.

CLINTON MAN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN HEAD-ON TRAFFIC ACCIDENT ON MONDAY

Three residents of Clinton were injured, one seriously, in a two-vehicle traffic accident in Henry County on Monday.

According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred as an eastbound vehicle, driven by 32-year-old Jeffrey Stephens, of Clinton, reportedly crossed the center line of the roadway and struck head-on a westbound vehicle, driven by 58-year-old Nancy Jurgensmeyer, of Montrose. The Stephens vehicle then traveled off the left side of the roadway, overturned and ejected all three occupants.

Stephens suffered serious injuries and was transported by Air E.M.S. to a hospital in Kansas City for treatment. Two other passengers in his vehicle, whose ages were not known at the time of the report, suffered moderate injuries and also were transported by helicopter to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City for treatment. Jurgensmeyer suffered moderate injuries and was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment. The report says none of the occupants in the Stephens vehicle was wearing a seat belt.

The accident happened just before 7 p.m. on Missouri Highway 52, one-half mile east of Southwest 1075th Road.
